A NEW WORKING PAPER BY Ricardo Borrmann (VISITING RESEARCH FELLOW AT ZEMKI, UNIVERSITY OF BREMEN) HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE “COMMUNICATIVE FIGURATIONS” WORKING PAPER SERIES.
The article is entitled “Paulo Emílio Salles Gomes’ transnational network – an interrelational approach to film history” and can be downloaded here. Ricardo Borrmann is a member of the research lab “City and Power” (Laboratório Cidade e Poder) at the History Institute of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (LCP/UFF). In 2018, he was a ZeMKI Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bremen.

Initiated by KoFi members Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp and Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen the upcoming annual conference of the DGPuK will include a workshop for research software in the scientific community.
The special window “Research Software in Communication and Media Studies: Where do we stand? Where do we want to go” is planned for Saturday, May 11th. First, various projects will be briefly presented and afterwards relevant questions about research software and how to deal with it as a professional community will be discussed.
The eleven submissions range from tools for automated data collection and analysis to various web crawlers and additional packages for statistics programs. The MeSort and MeTag applications being developed at ZeMKI will also be represented.

The article is entitled “Fort McMurray, Climate Change and ‘The Beast’: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Canadian News Editorials and Opinions ” and can be downloaded here. PatrickMcCurdy is Associate Professor in the Department Communication at the University of Ottawa. In 2017, he was a ZeMKI Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bremen.

The KoFi members Prof. Dr. Rudolf Kammerl and Dr. Claudia Lampert, together with Jane Müller, Marcel Rechlitz and Katrin Potzelein, have published A Book Chapter on Communicative Figurations in the anthology “Bewegungen – Beiträge zum 26. Kongress der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Erziehungswissenschaft” (in German).
The members of the research network Communicative Figurations have published a joint book chapter entitled “Kommunikative Figurationen – ein theoretisches Konzept zur Beschreibung von Sozialisationsprozessen und deren Wandel in mediatisierten Gesellschaften?” in the anthology “Bewegungen – Beiträge zum 26. Kongress der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Erzeihungswissenschaft”. The article is written in German and deals with the potentials of the figuration approach for socialisation research.

KoFi member Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp holds Evening Keynote at 7th international “Comparative Media Studies in Todays World” conference in St. Petersburg.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp, member of the KoFi research network, gives a keynote talk at the “Comparative Media Studies in todays World” conference in St. Petersburg today, April 16th 2019. The presentation is titled “Digital media, data infrastructures and pioneer journalism: The re-figuration of public communication in times of deep mediatization”. Therein Dr. Hepp discusses ‘pioneer journalism’ as a principal force in the re-figuration of journalism and its organizational foundations. The aim of the keynote is to give some insights into how this re-figuration of journalism and thus public communication takes place.
